Physical Education

Two smiling students in a classroomPhysical education classes in Hanover County gives students the knowledge, processes, and skills they need to engage in meaningful physical activity both in the present and for a lifetime through moderate to vigorous physical activity. Physical education instruction leads to personal enjoyment, challenge, satisfaction, and a health-enhancing level of personal fitness for our students.

The mission of the PE program at John M. Gandy is to provide children of all interest and ability levels the opportunity to become physically educated individuals with the fundamental motor skills, self-confidence, and understanding to enjoy physical activity and its benefits now and throughout life.

Students in our classes participate in a range of activities that promote physical, mental, emotional, and social growth, shaping them to be a more influential member of the community. Students focus on being team players through communication and teamwork and are challenged to find solutions to overcome obstacles. Most importantly, students actively engage in movement activities throughout the class.

Please remember that we require appropriate footwear and clothing to ensure a safe learning environment for all JGES students.
